Cipher News and Encyclopaedia Britannica Collaborate to Make Climate Coverage Accessible to More Readers Globally
[March 5, 2025] — Cipher News and Encyclopaedia Britannica launched an innovative partnership that will bring accessible climate stories to billions of readers around the world. This collaboration pairs Cipher’s deep climate solutions expertise and clear-sighted reporting with Encyclopaedia Britannica’s unmatched global reach.
The first story co-published through this partnership breaks down the history and importance of the Climate COPs (United Nations Conference of the Parties) — the premier international climate summit that you’ve probably heard of but might not fully understand.
“As climate change affects more people — and the urgency and complexity of the problem grows — it’s critical for readers to understand what’s happening and the real, promising solutions that are emerging. Cipher’s expert journalists are at the forefront of the innovations, industries and people shaping the clean energy future, and we’re thrilled to bring these important stories to Britannica’s readers,” said Amy Harder, Cipher Executive Editor.
Britannica, the oldest English-language encyclopaedia, has served as a credible, fact-based resource since 1768, shining a light on a wide breadth of topics including climate change and the clean energy transition.
“This is an ideal way to provide people with the knowledge and information they need about climate change right now,” said John P. Rafferty, Ph.D., senior editor, earth and life sciences, with Encyclopaedia Britannica. “I’m delighted for us to be partnering with Cipher News. How we manage climate change in the years ahead is a matter of existential importance for the whole planet and the demand from the public, from educators and from policy makers for coverage they can rely on is a demand we have to meet. I think readers will find our efforts helpful.”
Cipher’s reporting and analysis on key climate topics will be co-published regularly through this partnership.
